Message from the Director
It has been an amazing summer with the grand opening of the Drew Park Splash Pad  and Fountain and Edisto Discovery Park.  Both opened just in time to make sure our friends and neighbors had a cooler summer outdoors. The spray features are excellent new additions to our park’s pool inventory.

As the fall comes to Columbia you might consider taking part in the numerous classes and recreational activities available at City of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation Community Centers. There’s something for all ages and abilities available at a neighborhood center near you. And if your interests range more toward unstructured recreation, your local parks will be filled with people enjoying the weather with their friends and families. We hope we will see you out there, too. This is one of the best times of the year to be outside, whether you are throwing the football, training for a marathon, bird watching or simply enjoying a park bench.

While you are taking it easy, we will be busy gearing up for the opening of Columbia’s first custom concrete skate park. We hope to see you at the grand opening in 2010.

It Starts in Parks!
