City Councilman Cameron Runyan and his wife, Jenni, live in Columbia's Elmwood Park with their daughters, Leisel and Ella Grace. He earned his master's degree from USC and his bachelor degree from Furman.
Cameron is a financial advisor in downtown Columbia. He is a member of the Finance, Audit and Budget Committee, the Environment and Infrastructure Committee and serves as chairman for the Arts and Historic Preservation Committee. Councilman Runyan is also the chair of CPAC , a board member of the Capital City Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board and a member of the City Center Partnership's Long Range Planning Committee. In the spring of 2013 Cameron graduated from the Riley Institute's Diversity Leadership Initiative.
Cameron has a stirring passion for America, South Carolina and our capital city of Columbia. He believes that with strong, honest, ethical leadership, our greatest days are ahead of us and that the light of the lamp stand will fully return to this land as Americans once again humble themselves and return to the rock from which we were hewn. His model for elected leadership is the 19th century statesman William Wilberforce who, while successfully fighting for the reformation of manners and the abolition of slavery, stated, "We are too young to realize that certain things are impossible... So we will do them anyway."
The Runyan family worships at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Columbia.
