Mrs. Julie Ruff- Special Assistant to the Mayor
Mrs. Ruff started working for the City of Columbia in the Mayor's Office in April, 1986. She first worked 4 years for Mayor Patton Adams and began as Special Assistant to the Mayor when Bob Coble was elected in 1990. Throughout her many years with the city,she has had the opportunity to sit on numerous boards and commissions such as AidsWalk, Pepsi Rookie League, Epilepsy Association, United Way Marketing Committee, Carolina Marathon Women's Olympic Trials, Holocaust Memorial Committee, Festival of Trees Steering Committee, Sistercare and others. She currently serves as 1st Vice President for The Animal Mission Board of Directors, Chair of the Mayor's Campaign Against Breast Cancer and a member of the Shandon Neighborhood Council. Mrs. Ruff also handles the Mayor's annual special events, including the Mayor's Corporate Citizen of the Year luncheon, the Mayor's Breast Cancer Awareness fundraising breakfast and the city's Legislative Reception. She is also responsible for handling issues seemed sensitive by the Mayor, special projects, research, and when the Mayor cannot attend a meeting, often sits in for him. Mrs. Connie Lucius- Executive Secretary
Mrs. Connie Lucius has been with the city since June of 2005. Mrs. Lucius handles constituent concerns, as well as the office budget and manages the Mayor's webpages. She currently serves on the Mayor's Committee for Employment of People with Disabilities. She is co-chair of ESAC- the city Employees Special Acitivites Committee. Mrs. Lucius handles requests for proclamations and greeting letters. She also assists Mrs. Ruff with special projects assigned by Mayor Coble.
