Through the CDBG program and general funds, the City provides housing assistance for the purchase, rehabilitation, and/or construction of homes through several different programs for income-eligible residents within the City limits. To further encourage homeownership, the City’s Housing Department restructured existing programs and created new ones in FY 00-01 resulting in four categories of housing options – purchase, purchase/rehabilitation, new construction, and home improvements. Also, three programs are administered: Operation Paintbrush, Commercial Revolving Loan Fund, and the HOME setaside funds for City-approved Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs).
