Third Annual Boots & Badges Blood Drive
The Columbia Police Department and Columbia-Richland Fire Department are partnering with the American Red Cross South Carolina Blood Services Region for the third annual “Boots and Badges” blood drive. The event will be held at the American Red Cross Columbia donation center, 2751 Bull St. 7a.m.- 2p.m. Friday, May 25; Saturday, May 26, and Monday, May 28 11a.m.- 7p.m. Tuesday, May 29 and Wednesday, May 30

Free Memorial Day Concert
The Palmetto Concert Band invites the public to a Free Memorial Day Concert on Monday, May 28, at 7:30 p.m., in the Koger Center for the Arts. This is the 14th Annual Celebration in honor of the men in women who have served and are serving in the United States Armed Forces. A varied program of concert music will be provided including light overtures, marches, pop and patriotic music. The members of this 80-member concert band and their conductors rehearse and perform without remuneration, through their desire to share enjoyable music with an audience who wish to meet together, in comfort and at no expense, to commemorate the sacrifices and services of our military.

May 2012 At-Large Open House
At-Large City Council Members Tameika Isaac Devine and Daniel Rickenmann will sponsor a Fish Fry this month instead of their usual open house. This will be Councilman Rickenmann’s final open house/reception and the community is invited to attend. The Fish Fry will be held at 1225 Lady Street, in the parking lot, from 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. In the event of rain, the Fish Fry will be moved indoors.

Summer Concert Series 2012
The City of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce the featured artists for the 2012 Summer Concert Series. All performances will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will feature an amazing line-up. The kick off will be on Saturday, May 26 and continue through Saturday, August 18.

The Parks & Recreation Department invites youth, adults and families to this free, fun and entertaining Summer Concert Series. All artists can be seen at the performing arts stage, Finlay Park, 930 Laurel Street in downtown Columbia. For more information call 803.545.3100.

Columbia Council of Neighborhoods Awards of Recognition and Hall of Fame Banquet
The Columbia Council of Neighborhoods will host their annual Awards of Recognition and Hall of Fame Banquet on Saturday, June 9, 2012. There will be a meet and greet held at 6:30p.m. and dinner will follow at 7p.m. This event will be held at the Columbia Marriott, 1200 Hampton Street.
