The “Work It Up” Job Training Scholarship Program is a grant funded program designed to help individuals gain training through the Midlands Technical College Quick Jobs Courses and to in-crease potential to gain employment earning a livable wage and benefits, improving the quality of life for families and strengthening communities.
Who is Eligible to Participate?
Individuals living in targeted neighborhoods within the incorporated City of Columbia, city limits who are unemployed or underemployed with total household earnings at or below 80% of the HUD area designated Average Median Income (AMI).
How Does the Program Work?
Qualified applicants would have an opportunity to select from a list of Quick Jobs Courses offered based on Employers needs in the surrounding metropolitan area of the City of Columbia. Scholarships will fund course tuition, books, and material fees.
Courses of Study
Course areas of study will include Healthcare, Manufacturing, Construction and Trades, and Creative careers.
Program Participants must complete an application and interview during the selection process. A Work Keys Assessment to help determine job readiness as well as criminal background checks and drug testing will be necessary. Participants must be unemployed or under-employed based on current skillsets and occupation.
