2012 - 2013 Hospitality Grant Application Workshops
The City of Columbia is now accepting 2012-2013 Hospitality Tax applications and we are conducting two workshops for our Hospitality Tax grant. The workshops are being held to assist in the Hospitality application process . The first workshop will be Thursday, Feb 16th @ the Capital Senior Center near Maxcy Gregg Park from 12-2:00pm and everyone is invited to bring their lunch. The second workshop will be on Thursday February 23 @ Carolina Wings on Gervais Street from 5-7:00pm We will have a separate room and orders will be taken from the menu. Job Title: PARKING ENFORCEMENT MONITOR
Pay: $27,378 - $35,592/ANNUAL
Nature of Work
The purpose of this position is to enforce City parking ordinances and regulations, and to perform related work as required.
 
Qualifications:
Graduation from high school, vocational school or GED with some work experience. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with the public in a courteous manner even in hostile situations.
 
Special Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid SC Class “D” Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record. Must have available transportation to report to various locations within the City. Excellent physical condition is necessary, as the position requires extensive walking in all weather conditions (i.e. heat, cold, rain, pollen season, etc.). Must be able to carry five (5) to ten (10) pounds of equipment, distributed on their person, throughout the work day. Preference may be given to applicants who have some experience in operating handheld equipment/two-way radio. Must be able to remain poised and professional during tense moments when dealing with the public. Must be able to work independently using good judgment and have the ability to make sound decisions.
 
Special Notes:
Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday with some flexibility between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
