2012 - 2013 Hospitality Grant Application Workshops
The City of Columbia is now accepting 2012-2013 Hospitality Tax applications and we are conducting two workshops for our Hospitality Tax grant. The workshops are being held to assist in the Hospitality application process . The first workshop will be Thursday, Feb 16th @ the Capital Senior Center near Maxcy Gregg Park from 12-2:00pm and everyone is invited to bring their lunch. The second workshop will be on Thursday February 23 @ Carolina Wings on Gervais Street from 5-7:00pm We will have a separate room and orders will be taken from the menu. Job Title: KENNEL TECHNICIAN (ANIMAL SERVICES)
Pay: $21,214 - $27,578/ANNUAL
Nature of Work
The purpose of this position is to perform skilled work in the care of animals impounded at the City’s animal shelter and to assist the Veterinarian with medical procedures and care, and to perform related technical work as required.
 
Qualifications:
Graduation from high school, vocational school, or GED supplemented by one (1) year of college education in veterinary technology preferred; or closely related field with two (2) years work experience in handling animals on a daily basis or has worked in an animal related occupation.
 
Special Requirements:
Preference may be given to applicants who possess and maintain a valid SC Class “D” Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record. Must possess and maintain S.C. Humane Euthanasia Certification within one (1) year from date of hire or promotion. Preference may be given to applicants who have knowledge of personal computer equipment with skill in the use of Microsoft Office preferred, utilizing Outlook and word processing software programs as well as data entry skills. Work hours vary, i.e. some work five (5) days a week 8-hour days and four (4) days a week 10-hour days. May be required to work additional hours, weekends and holidays, as needed. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and good animal skills.
