Third Annual Boots & Badges Blood Drive
The Columbia Police Department and Columbia-Richland Fire Department are partnering with the American Red Cross South Carolina Blood Services Region for the third annual “Boots and Badges” blood drive. The event will be held at the American Red Cross Columbia donation center, 2751 Bull St. 7a.m.- 2p.m. Friday, May 25; Saturday, May 26, and Monday, May 28 11a.m.- 7p.m. Tuesday, May 29 and Wednesday, May 30

Job Title: CLASS III OFFICER CANDIDATE (POLICE DEPARTMENT)
Pay: $25,837 - $33,588/ANNUAL
Nature of Work
The purpose of this position is to perform limited police duties to ensure the strict enforcement of state and local laws relating to public safety and welfare, and to perform related law enforcement work as required.
 
Qualifications:
Graduation from high school, vocational school, or GED with limited enforcement authority for laws and City ordinances relating to police escort services, security for critical infrastructure, and security and crowd control at special events; performs all assigned duties in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations and standards of safety; responsible for monitoring property security, maintaining public order, transporting prisoners and mental patients, etc.; performs duties associated with the operation of the Police Department front desk and administrative duties as required.
 
Special Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid SC Class “D” Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record. Must possess or be able to obtain Class III Law Enforcement Officer certification through the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy in accordance with Section 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976; and firearms certification within one (1) year from date of hire or promotion. Must provide proof of military service (DD-214) if applicable. May be required to obtain other technical or professional certifications as deemed necessary by supervisor.
