Visual and Cultural Arts

The Arts are an integral part of Columbia’s Parks and Recreation program.

We offer a wide scope of citywide arts services and programs through local   Museums, Theaters, our Recreation Centers, and The Arts Center.

 

The Arts Center, 1932 Calhoun Street, serves as a hub for pottery enthusiasts, and well as classes in jewelry making and sculpture. In addition, programs are offered that enable artists and arts groups to provide cultural arts presentations contributing to the city's diverse artistic environment.

 

Studio Access Hours:

                         Mon/Tues/Thurs    9am – 9pm

                         Wed/Fri                 9am – 5pm

                         Saturday              10am – 4pm

Note:  Students enrolled in Introduction to Pottery and Intermediate Pottery can participate in the remaining portion of Open Studio for that session at no additional charge.

 

The Katheryn M. Bellfield/ Booker Washington Heights Cultural Arts Center ,  2611 Grant Street,  is a full service cultural arts center that brings visual and performing arts to the Columbia area through ongoing programs, projects, and special events. We strive to enrich lives and nurture community awareness of a variety of arts by encouraging the involvement of youth, teens, adults, and seniors. Local art groups can call to schedule rehearsal and performance space. For more information call 803.255.8161
