Appealing a Ticket?
When can I appeal a parking ticket? All parking tickets should be appealed before the original due date of that ticket. Some exceptions are made for extenuating circumstances.

To whom and how do I appeal? To appeal a parking ticket, you must first report to or call our Parking Records Division at 803-545-3362. If the ticket is ruled to be valid, and you wish to appeal further, you must report to City of Columbia Municipal Court, 811 Washington Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29201. Phone: 803-545-3135.

Malfunctioning Meters: Parking Meters are recalibrated regularly. However, there is an occasional malfunction. To report a malfunctioning meter, contact City of Columbia Parking at 1136 Washington Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29201. Phone: 803-545-3362. If you have been ticketed at a meter that is found to be malfunctioning, you will not be responsible for the payment of that parking ticket. If the meter is found to be properly functioning, you will be responsible for the payment of that ticket. You must report the meter to be malfunctioning within 72 hours of the parking ticket issue date. You must have the specific parking ticket number or the specific meter number in question when you call or come by the office.
