Vehicle Impound Program
What is the City of Columbia?s policy on impounding vehicles? All vehicles that have at least $50.00 in unpaid parking tickets are subject to being impounded.

What do I do if my vehicle has been impounded? You must pay the entire amount due in cash or by credit card plus the applicable tow fee. You must report to the applicable location listed below. Once you have paid the entire balance due in unpaid parking fines, you must report to the City of Columbia Police Department, 1 Justice Square, Columbia, South Carolina 29201 to obtain a release form for your vehicle. The Police Department will inform you of the specific towing company that has impounded your vehicle. You must report to the appropriate towing company with the paid receipt and the release form to collect your vehicle. You will be responsible for the applicable tow fee charged by that particular towing company at that time. Tow fees charged are usually $75.00, though the City of Columbia offers no guarantee on this amount.

Where do I pay? To obtain a release for your vehicle from impound during normal business hours, you must report to City of Columbia Municipal Court, 811 Washington Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29201. Phone: 803-545-3135
