Park Ranger - Outdoor Programs
Columbia’s Park Rangers have three primary areas of responsibility; maintenance, public safety and park protection, and interpretive programming. Each one of these responsibilities encourages the proper use of city parks through education.
Park Ranger Walks every Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at Riverfront South. Join the Park Rangers for walks and talks on fish, birds, plants, insects, and the fall line.
Fish ladder tours at Riverfront North. Come and learn the ins and outs of
Columbia’s very own Migratory Fish Ladder. Find out how migratory fish use the passage to travel upstream to spawn. Every Friday at 4 p.m. through May.
Kayak trips on the Columbia Canal/Broad River.
Join
Park Rangers for a float trip down the historic
Columbia
Canal and/or
Broad River for a guided tour of nature at its best. Catch glimpses of animals ranging from herons, turtles, king fishers and bald eagles, as well as unique plants like the Rocky Shoal Spider Lily. Boat, paddle, and PFD provided; no experience necessary; now through September. Email agrizzell@columbiasc.net to set up your next outdoor adventure; minimum five participants with a maximum of 15: $30 per person

Jr. Fishing Day with the Rangers! May 1st, 9 a.m. - 12 noon bring your little ones to the park for a lesson on the basics of fishing and then watch them try their hand at hooking a big one in the
Columbia
Canal. No fishing gear? No problem, fishing gear and bait will be provided. Adult supervision required. Meet us at the Riverfront North parking lot. Email cdmurcier@columbiasc.net for details.
Wee Wild Ones! Bring your children to the Riverfront Park Amphitheater on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. for story time with Park Ranger Ed.
