Individuals wishing to file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests are asked to use the City of Columbia FOIA Request Form (Microsoft Internet Explorer) or submit a letter. All requests are to be signed.
All requests are to be submitted via fax (803-343-8719), email at [email protected], mail (City of Columbia Attn: Public Relations Dept. PO Box 147 Columbia, SC 29217) or hand-delivered (1737 Main Street (City Hall-corner of Main and Laurel Streets).
Hand-delivered request should be left with the CSO (security officer) located in the front entrance of City Hall, 1737 Main Street.
$0.25 cents per page is the minimum copy charge
$1.00 per CD/DVD
$10.00 per hour research and retrieval fee may apply
Documents may be furnished when appropriate without charge or at a reduced charge where the agency determines that waiver or reduction or fee is in the public interest because the information can be considered as primarily benefiting the general public.
The public body may establish and collect fees not to exceed the actual cost of searching for making copies of record.
The pre-paid deposit may be required before searching for or making copies of the records.
