City of Columbia Animal Services hosted yet another successful adoption special during the month of June with Adopt a Shelter Cat Month. Approximately 140 cats and kittens were able to find their furrever homes. During the special, both cats and kittens were available for adoption with an adoption fee of only $10. The fee covered all necessary veterinary procedures that are to be performed on the animals prior to adoption, such as spaying and neutering, vaccines and micro-chipping. The staff of the facility was relieved to find that many of the cats and kittens were able to be adopted, as overpopulation in animal shelters across the state and country has become an issue in the past.
“During June we celebrated Adopt a Shelter Cat Month. It’s a time of year when most shelters, including our’s, get overrun by cats and kittens so the need to get as many as possible into new homes is pretty big”, Marli Drum, Director of Columbia Animal Services said, “Many thanks to our citizens and community for stepping up and helping us at this crucial time. We are thrilled and grateful.”
Animal Services always welcomes those who are looking for a fur baby to take home with them, just as the fur babies who are looking for their forever homes. For more information about Animal Services, visit the Facebook page, www.columbiasc.net/animal-services
