Each year the city is involved in numerous road construction projects designed to support traffic safety and traffic flow, encourage development and redevelopment opportunities and improve the aesthetic character of the city. We apologize for any inconvenience these improvements may cause.
Bower Parkway Rebuild
Bower Parkway Improvements Completed
The road work along on
Bower Parkway that began on March 30 is now complete. Paving and striping of the newly rebuilt 1.5 mile stretch of road was done overnight by a private contractor despite a rainy forecast.
The massive overhaul of the infrastructure elements of
Bower Parkway from
Harbison Blvd. to Park Terrace included removing and replacing the road surface and base material that had deteriorated of the years, and adding underlayment drain pipes. The cost of the rebuild is an estimated $540,000.
The City of
Columbia Public Works Department has used a variety of communication tools including Facebook, Twitter and Nixle to share updates about the project.
The city will continue using social media, Internet and Nixle to provide public safety alerts to less time sensitive advisories and community information including road construction updates.
