2017 Summer Camps
Parks and Recreation will offer weekly summer day camps with supervised recreation for children ages 6-12, M-F, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Camp programs are designed to help children develop to their fullest potential by focusing on education through recreation, team building and leadership, creativity and self-expression, physical fitness, independence and decision making. Camps are open to both city residents and non-city residents. The cost is $55 per week.

Let your child explore their creative side through painting, drawing, pottery and more at the Art Center’s summer Art Camp. The camp will be held from June 12 through July 21 for ages 5-9 and 10-16. Sessions will be held at the Art Center, located at 1928 Calhoun St. The camp costs $85 per session. Camp is held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. NOTE: Sessions for children ages 5-9 are full.
Registration is limited to 10 participants per session.

Sports camp will be offered for children ages 6-12. The camp is designed to teach basic fundamentals, develop personal skills and to provide exposure to different sports. The cost is $55 per week. Camp will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, 2300 Greene Street.
The Teen Camp offers a unique and powerful summer camp program that is designed to promote tolerance, respect, leadership, team skills, self-confidence, self-esteem and community involvement. We help to guide teens towards a positive and productive future by helping them make smart and informed life choices. To include:
Positive experiences in a safe and caring environment
Interactive workshops, educational and cultural activities
Instruction and leadership by dedicated staff and visiting professionals
Promotion of self expression and individualism
Peer interaction and social bonding
Community services projects
The camp will be held at Booker Washington Heights Community Center, 2611 Grants Avenue Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for ages 13-16. The cost for the camp is $55 a week. Fees and/or admission activities and/or field trips are additional. Lunch is provided.

The Columbia Tennis Center located at 1635 Whaley Street, is hosting a summer Tennis Camp for children ages 6-14. The camp will focus on stroke production and techniques, drills, match competition and more.
The camp will be held in June and July from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Camp Dates: June 12- 16, June 26-June 30, July 10-14 and July 24-28.
The cost of the camp is $55 per week. Make checks payable to the Columbia Tennis Center.
Applications are available at the Columbia Tennis Center. Registrations will be taken until the first day of camp.

The James E. Clyburn Golf Center is hosting a summer golf camp for children ages 8-16 who are interested in improving their golf skills or learning the fundamentals of the game, etiquette and course management. The camp is open to new, intermediate and experienced golfers.
No equipment is needed. The fee to participate is $55 per week. Camp begins June 12.
The camp will be held at the golf center located at 2901 Slighs Avenue from 7:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
Adventure camps for youth will serve as a sampler of outdoor options, modeling the tenants of Leave No Trace Outdoor Ethics while climbing, paddling, orienteering and backpacking their way to fun.
Children should be confident swimmers and ready for physical challenge. Cost: $200
Ages 8-12: July 31- August 4
Ages 13-16: August 7- August 11

Family Fun: Car Camping Clinic & Trip
Want to get your family outdoors but are put off by all the gear? Car camping is vehicle-based tent camping at campgrounds with bath and shower facilities. This is the perfect introduction to the great outdoors, and a real cost effective way to enjoy family travel. Let us help you safely create the memories of a lifetime with your children. Camping clinics will start with a Thursday night hands on classroom/clinic. The following weekend, we will all meet at a selected site and put theory into practice!
