We do a lot to keep you informed.
From information, invitations and explanations to guidance, advice, announcements and important "heads up" alerts about what's new and what's "news" - it's the Public and Media Relations Department's employees who gather the facts and do whatever it takes to get the word out to the city.
They're the city's communicators - in print and on video, at press conferences and in media releases, via e-blasts and web content, and through any other channels that suit the subject, the audience and the deadline at hand.
In short, this group is the invaluable knowledge connection that keeps everyone in touch with the fact that We Are Columbia!

#WoodcreekFarmsPaving: The contractor is scheduled to complete the milling and binder course next week on Woodcreek Farms Road, which will include the traffic circle. Once the binder course is complete, the concrete portion of the project will begin. The concrete work will occur at the round-about. Once the binder course is completed, we expect the surface course part of the paving to begin. There will not be any work on the roadway on Wednesday due to the contractor having a previous commitment. ![]()

WOW: Hot Mix Asphalt- combination of approximately 95 percent stone, sand, or gravel bound together by asphalt cement, a product of crude oil. When the asphalt leaves the plant, it’s roughly 350 degrees. By the time it hits the ground, asphalt temps are at 300 degrees. Bonus WOW: Bitumen- the liquid binder that holds asphalt together. It’s like the marshmallow in Rice Krispy treats!![]()
